SEEDit 2025

I’m Growing Food Security For My Neighbours.

1 in 10 Ontarians go hungry and even more lack access to nutritious fresh food. They are neighbours and friends in communities down the road. SEEDit is one of the ways The Commonwell supports capacity, resiliency and growth in communities we call home. Join us in growing for good and sharing the harvest!

How it Works

1. Register for a Voucher

The Commonwell offers over 7000 $50 vouchers for garden centres to help families start food producing gardens. Registration begins May 1, 2025 at 12pm EST.

2. Get Inspired

Join the SEEDit Community on Facebook for contests, courses, and tips from other green thumbs.

3. Redeem Your Voucher

Print your voucher at home or show it on your phone at the garden centre to purchase your seeds, soil and food producing plants!

4. Get Growing

The more you plant, the more good you’ll do. Life is better in the garden.

5. Share Your Harvest

When you start to see the fruits of your labour, share with your local foodbank, community group or neighbours.

6. Share Your Photos

Share your photos and inspire others. See the impact of growing together in the SEEDit Community on Facebook.

Share Your Harvest

Sharing what we grow is an important step towards improving food security at the grassroots level. Fresh and nutritious food does more than fill plates for a hungry family- it grows strong communities! Here are three ways to share.

Foodbanks

Find a foodbank in your area that accepts fresh produce. Visit Foodbanks Canada or Feed Ontario for more information.

Your Neighbours

Share some of what you grow with the folks nextdoor, that’s what good neighbours do.

A Community Group

Check with local service clubs, shelters and outreach organizations, they may be able to use fresh produce!
